About Hugo
Hugo is a partner and head of the Intellectual Property practice, with more than 20 years' experience.
He has extensive experience across all areas of intellectual property, with a particular focus on patent, trade mark, copyright and unfair competition litigation.
He advises clients on complex litigation and arbitration involving intellectual property rights. He also has significant experience in the negotiation and drafting of agreements relating to industrial property rights, copyright, software and R&D. His practice further encompasses sports law, advertising law and image rights.
Hugo holds a law degree and a master's degree in private law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, as well as postgraduate qualifications in arbitration from NOVA School of Law and in sports law from Católica Lisbon School of Law.
He is an Official Industrial Property Agent and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney, and is a frequent speaker at universities and at national and international conferences.
Before joining PLMJ, he practised at Baptista, Monteverde & Associados and CMS.
