Nuno is a senior counsel in the Employment and Labour practice. With more than 30 years' experience, he has advised clients in a wide range of sectors, including rail, road and air transport, pharmaceuticals, oil, energy and natural resources, postal distribution, telecommunications and large-scale retail.
He is one of the lawyers in Portugal with extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of collective labour relations across a wide range of sectors. His experience includes both direct negotiations and the resolution of collective disputes through conciliation, mediation and arbitration, covering all forms of collective bargaining agreements and instruments.
Nuno has been awarded the title of Lawyer Specialising in Labour Law by the Portuguese Bar Association.
He was a lawyer at the CIP – Confederation of Portuguese Industry (1987-1998) and later deputy director of its Social and Labour Affairs Department (1999-2001). In these roles, he represented the Confederation in Portuguese and EU tripartite social dialogue and consultation bodies.
Nuno was a member of the CES – Economic and Social Council as an employer arbitrator for the purposes of compulsory and necessary arbitration and the arbitration of minimum services in strike situations. He held this position during the 2015-2018 term.
Since 2019, he has been included on the list of presiding arbitrators at the same institution.
