PLMJ advised the banking syndicate composed of Banco Santander Totta, S.A., Banco Português de Fomento, S.A., Banco Comercial Português, S.A., and the Belgian branch of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in connection with a €175 million senior financing, structured as bonds and credit facilities, to support the development, operation, and refinancing of Hyperion Renewables’ portfolio, with around 300 MW of installed capacity.
Hyperion Renewables’ portfolio comprises solar projects (utility-scale and decentralised/UPPs), battery storage, and wind power. Among these, the Cavaleira project stands out as the first hybrid project in Portugal combining solar, wind, and battery storage. The battery storage projects included in the portfolio also benefit from support under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). Most of the energy generated by the projects in the portfolio will be sold through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with the remainder being sold directly on the market.
PLMJ’s multidisciplinary team was led by Pedro Siza Vieira, partner in the Banking and Finance and Capital Markets practices, and included the participation of João Marques Mendes, partner in Projects and Energy and Public Law practices, and the lawyers Luís Miguel Vasconcelos, Rita Romão, Maria Gorjão Henriques, Pedro de Almeida Fernandes, António Delgado da Cruz, António Patrício de Mendonça, Francisca Ramos Franco, and Carolina Granja.
