About Joana

Joana is an associate in the Intellectual Property practice. She specialises in copyright, trademarks, software, patents and intellectual property contracts, including licensing, assignment and coexistence agreements, as well as litigation.

She advises Portuguese and international clients on strategies for protecting, exploiting, licensing and enforcing intellectual property rights. She is particularly experienced in negotiating licensing agreements for the use and exploitation of audiovisual, literary and artistic works, as well as technological rights.

Joana holds a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She attended the ICC – Portugal Chamber of Commerce course on procedural and litigation law in intellectual property and completed the course “Artificial Intelligence: Unravelling AI under the European Legal Framework” at the Faculty of Law at Nova University of Lisbon. She is also a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP).

Prior to joining PLMJ, she was a lawyer at Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados.
