Partner and head of the Intellectual Property practice.
Hugo is a partner and head of the Intellectual Property practice. With over 20 years of professional experience, he has worked across the various areas of intellectual property, with particular emphasis on patent, trademark, copyright, and unfair competition litigation.
He advises clients in complex court proceedings and arbitrations involving intellectual property rights. He also has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting agreements relating to industrial property rights, copyright, software, and R&D. His practice also covers sports law, advertising law, and image rights.
He holds a law degree and a master's degree in Private Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto, a postgraduate diploma in Arbitration from the Faculty of Law of the NOVA University of Lisbon, and a postgraduate diploma in Sports Law from the Faculty of Law-Lisbon School of the Portuguese Catholic University. He has been a registered Industrial Property Agent, and a European Trade Mark and Design Attorney, and is a frequent speaker at universities and at national and international conferences.
Before joining PLMJ, he practised at Baptista, Monteverde & Associados and at CMS.
